Synthetic kernmantle rope has traditionally been characterised as either Dynamic or Static.  These general terms have probably been derived from their intended use, specifically that activities with planned dynamic events should use dynamic ropes.

The range of materials and method of construction both influence the stretch of rope.

We decided to put this stretch to the test.
